One of the people responsible for our obsession with apple cider donuts, sweet corn salsa and all things apple every Fall passed away on Monday, and the entire community of Poplar Grove is mourning his loss.

On Monday afternoon, the Village of Poplar Grove posted this on Facebook;

The Village of Poplar Grove would like to give our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Edwards Family. Bob Edwards passed away this morning. He was 90 years old. Mr. Edwards was a Lions Club member and helped throughout the Village of Poplar Grove for many years. The Edwards family is in our thoughts durning [sic] this difficult time.

According to WTVO, Robert Edwards Sr. and his wife Betty founded Edwards Apple Orchard in 1964, and then sold it to his daughter in 1990.

Edwards Apple Orchard is visited by thousands of people every Fall, and I think every single one of us is thankful he and his wife decided to share their homegrown deliciousness all those years ago. Rest easy, Mr. Edwards. Your entire family is in our thoughts and prayers.
