The internet, we all need it, use it and can't live without it. However, we all don't get treated the same way with it comes to internet speed. Where you live, determines if you have good or lousy internet service.

The rankings are out and there is bad news for those who live in Rochelle, Byron, Stillman Valley and Oregon. Ogle County ranks dead last in internet speed according to research done by internet security company PC Pitstop. They calculated the average download and upload speeds for every county in the United States. From their findings, we narrowed down the results to Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.

The map below shows the best (GREEN) to the worst (RED) download speeds for each county in Northern Illinois. The figures are based on 'average' download speed by county. Depending on the town and internet provider, the results may vary.

The 5 WORST TOWNS for Internet Bandwith

1.Ogle County: Avg Download Speed: 6215 kbps

2. Boone County: Avg Download Speed: 8705 kbps

3. DeKalb County: Avg Download Speed: 10112 kbps

4. Lee County: Avg Download Speed: 11986 kbps

5. Stephenson County: Avg Download Speed: 15634 kbps

The good news for our friends in Ogle county, if you are fortunate enough to have Mediacom Cable, you have access to download rates of 47407 kbps. So, the internet is not slow everywhere.
