After five decades of classic, legendary hits and incredible performances, he's retiring from touring. According to TODAY.com, after the next tour, Kenny Rogers will retire. "It's happily sad or sadly happy," he said of the Today Show this Friday. "I'm going to do a big worldwide tour, and it's going to be my last. I'm going to say goodbye at that point; I've done this long enough."

What will he do next? He has five children, including 11-year-old twin sons, Jordan and Justin and he wants to spend more time with them.

Kenny does have a new Christmas album being released today and it is called "Once Again It's Christmas". This will be Kenny's sixth Christmas album and 37th studio album.

I remember attending a Kenny Rogers Christmas Concert in downtown Rockford at the MetroCentre with my family in the late 90's. "The 12 Days of Christmas" and all of the songs he sang that night sounded so good with his raspy voice.

Afterwards, we drove down East State Street and enjoyed chicken at Kenny Rogers Roasters which is no longer in Rockford. Oh, that butter sweet corn from Kenny Rogers was the best. That was a sad day when the doors closed in the Forest City.

Thanks Kenny for all the songs, and chicken. To quote one of your songs, "You Picked A Fine Time To Leave Me....."
