Insiders confirmed that Robin Williams took his own life, as originally reported. Additionally, sources report that the comedian hanged himself in the main part of his San Francisco Bay Area home.

When I first opened Facebook yesterday afternoon and saw the post that Robin Williams had passed away I thought, "Yeah, right. Just another death hoax rumor." Then the articles kept on coming from very credible sources, and my heart was officially broken.

Robin Williams' death is shocking and heartbreaking and touches us in a way usually reserved for close friends. Maybe that's because we're of a generation that grew up on Robin Williams. He's been making us laugh and cheering us up since we were kids; like a big-screen father figure. That he died suffering from severe depression, makes the news all the more tragic. As director Garry Marshall, who first cast Williams in 'Happy Days' and later 'Mork and Mindy,' said today, "He could make everybody happy but himself." In a completely tragic and unfathomable turn of events, beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams has died at the age of 63. Williams was found in his home in California earlier today, as confirmed by the Marin County Sheriff's department.
