A Sycamore teen working his way to earn the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts and needs our help in the form of bikes.

Ryan Loitz, a Life Scout with Troop 16, needs old bikes to recycle for part of his Eagle Scout project.

According to this article in the Daily Chronicle,  Ryan's project is called "Recycle Your Cycle: For a Wheelie Good Cause". Ryan is taking old and gently used bicycles and restoring them back to usable condition to be given to those in need in the community.

In fact, this coming Sunday April 24th there will be a community bike drive at Northern Rehab Physical Therapy Specialists on 3266 Resource Parkway in DeKalb from 2pm - 5pm.

All of the bikes collected during the drive will be cleaned and repaired and then given to Axletree, "a nonprofit organization that promotes cycling advocacy and community awareness. Together Loitz and Axletree will distribute bikes to people and families in need in the community."

If you'd like to find out more information about this project, to donate or to volunteer call all "Ryan Loitz at 815-991-1101 or email RecycleYourCycle16@gmail.com."
