Sycamore Man Wins $1 Million Lottery Prize

A Sycamore man is $1 Million richer after matching the winning numbers on an Illinois Lottery ticket earlier this month.

According to the Illinois Lottery, Ahmad Qarah found the winning Mega Millions ticket while cleaning his desk about a week and a half ago. Qarah had purchased the ticket in Macomb while visiting friends.

"I really bought the ticket on a whim," Qarah said in a press release from the Illinois Lottery.

After finding the ticket, Qarah checked the numbers 16, 19, 28, 29 and 68 online and found out he had a match.

"My mom always said that I was such a good son, I deserved to win the Lottery. But I never thought I actually would," Qarah said.

According to the Illinois Lottery, Qarah plans to buy a new house in Sycamore and share the winnings with his parents.
