According to WIFR TV23 and Mohammad Babadoost, plant pathology professor at the University of Illinois "we'll have a pumpkin for everybody for Halloween, but canned pumpkin could run low by Nov. 26's Thanksgiving holiday. Buy it whenever it comes to the store."

Here's evidence of how rain in June killed off many root systems for pumpkins to grow for professionals and the local home gardener. My own Brother-In -Law always grows a ton of free pumpkins for the family, but this year everything was lost.

Even the big manufacturing companies of canned pumpkin like manufacturer Libby says yields in Illinois appear to be less than anticipated this year.

Get ready to pay more for your canned pumpkins for pie baking and anything pumpkin at the store.
