The City of Rockford Public Works Department has announced it will declare a snow emergency starting at 7 p.m. tonight.

According to a press release from the department, an odd/even parking ordinance will be enforced at that time.

Vehicles should be parked on the even side of the street as of 7 p.m. Vehicles should then be parked on the odd side of the street after 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The announcement of the snow emergency is in anticipation of residential plowing and salting during the overnight hours.

The snow emergency will be in effect until further notice.

A similar snow emergency also will be in effect starting 8 a.m. Tuesday in Freeport. The Freeport snow emergency will last 48 hours according to information from the city's public works department.
