A Shocker! David Letterman has just announced his retirement. The announcement happened during the taping of his show this afternoon in New York (The Show will air tonight on CBS). Dave told his audience his last show will take place sometime in 2015.

Letterman began his own late night talk show back in 1982 on NBC. Here is a classic segment from that very show where he interviewed Bill Murray

Letterman's national showbiz career as a stand-up comedian in the late 1970s, where he appeared many times on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson." He began his late night career in 1982 on NBC with "Late Night with David Letterman."

In 1992, David Letterman moved to CBS to host "The Late Show with David Letterman," after Jay Leno replaced Johnny Carson on the "Tonight Show" NBC.

In my opinion, David Letterman remains one of the televisions all time best personalities
