The votes have been tabulated and the results are in. The rescued sea otter at the Shedd Aquarium now has a name.

On Friday, Pup 719 traded in her number for name. She will now be known as Ellie.

"Ellie" according to DNA Chicago is a derived from Carmel, as in Carmel Beach,CA where she was found.

Here she is exploring her new habitat and the exhibit where visitors can come and see her.

The southern sea otter who was rescued and rehabilitated by Monterey Bay Aquarium, has been at Shedd since January 27th receiving around-the-clock care behind the scenes. Now 14 weeks old, she explored the new exhibit for the first time on March 18th as her name was revealed!
