The seasons are starting to change and it is time to break out the jackets. For some, that is not possible.

The Salvation Army of Rockford kicked off its 27th annual "Koats For Kids" program. This program was setup so that children who are needy get coats for the winter season.

Here are the details of what kind of coats you can donate:

-Coats must be in good wearable condition

-They have to be clean

-No missing buttons or broken zippers

-No stains or tears

The coats will be collected thru Friday, October  21st. The coats will be distributed on October 27th at the Salvation Army's Social Service Center, 416 S. Madison Street in Rockford from 9 am til 6 pm.

There are 33 barrel locations that are located all across the Rockford area. If you want to donate a coat, here is where you can:

All 7 Beef A Roo locations, Belvidere North High School, Bickford Senior Living, Boylan, Central Christian Church, Christian Life School, K-Mart, Lowe’s Distribution Center, Nicholson Hardware, Rockford Christian Elementary, All 7 Schnucks locations, Second Congregational/First Presbyterian Church, Slumberland,
Steiner Electric, Stockholm Inn, Valli Produce in Loves Park, Wesley Willows,
Woodman’s Foods, YMCA, YMCA and Rockford Realty Assoc.
