Rocky Mountain Memories with Florida Georgia Line

The last time I was in Colorado I was in my early 20's. However, I have the most vivid memories thanks to the Rocky Mountains and my experience on 'Pikes Peak'. If I could register for the chance to see Florida Georgia Line at Red Rocks on Colorado, I would do it without question. Here's why.

My Mom, Dad and I drove from Wonder Lake, Illinois to Denver, Colorado to see the Rocky Mountains. That was the mission. See the Rocky Mountains. Drive for two days, climb to the top of the highest point, Pikes Peak, and then drive home. Sounds cut and dry, but I learned a lot that week.

The world is bigger that I ever realized with beautiful treasures if we open our eyes. I also learned I can drive for days if I want to. Last realization? The air really is 'thin' when you get to the top of a mountain. It was a rush getting light headed with low oxygen levels.

Once in Colorado, Pikes Peak was waiting. Up to the top of the mountain we rode on a 'cog' cable car for $20 dollars per ride. Costly? You bet. But who wants to walk to the top of a mountain? This cog cable car clicked up the hill, locking in steal teeth with every click so the car would not tip, fall, or go backwards. After 30 minutes up we finally hit the top.

Frightening? Yes, but once on top of Pikes Peak, the sight was truly heavenly. You could almost touch the clouds. 'Look Ma, I'm on top of the world' I shouted.

These Rocky Mountain memories I shared with my mom and dad numerous times. Now, these memories of sharing Pikes Peak with them is more dear to me since they have passed.
