Last night a ribbon cutting and dedication for the new Ironworks Beloit YMCA location took place, and they chose one of our favorite 11-year-olds from Rockton to host the event.

Sofia Korasick is now a sixth grader at Stephen Mack Middle School in Rockton, and she a frequent guest here at Q98.5 because, well, she is AWESOME!

The first time I met Sofia was over a year ago, and I was FLOORED by her outgoing personality and positive mental attitude which you see so seldom in today's youth. This young woman is inspiring, and so very fun to be around, plus she's super cute to boot!

Sofia impresses people wherever she goes, including the staff at the YMCA camp she went to this summer. In fact, Sofia's mom Carmelina told me camp leaders were so impressed with her that they recommended to the CEO that Sofia be the host of the ribbon cutting ceremony for the city's new YMCA location.

Thankfully, he was smart enough to agree. Sofia embodies everything the YMCA is trying to cultivate and inspire in today's youth, and I think you will agree after watching this.

Can I just say I love that Sofia is standing on a chair and rocking it during that whole speech? I knew we were kindred spirits, Sofia. LOL!
