Rockford's Codes & Regulation Committee gave the green light to the market's liquor license. Organizers say they are in the home stretch now.

Rockford's outdoor City Market is a huge victory for the downtown area. It didn't take long for organizers of the much-loved event to see that there was a need for this kind of event year round. Construction on an indoor market began nearly one year ago and soon that project will be completed, according to mystateline.com.

The full city council will vote on the liquor license next week. Building the spaces for the permanent vendors is just about all that remains. Rockford's Indoor City Market is set to open in March 2019.
