Pretty much all of Rockford will be heading out Tuesday night to watch fireworks somewhere in the Stateline. If you are planning on heading downtown to watch Rockford's fireworks display, here's some places you can get a great view with a whole lot less congestion.

This may come as a shocker, but it's been many years since I've seen the fireworks in downtown Rockford. It seems like I'm always either out of town, or avoiding fireworks because of a terrified daughter. This year however, we are planning to check out Rockford's 4th of July parade that starts at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and then stick around for fireworks after that hoping our three year old doesn't decide to freak out. Being stuck in a big crowd with a child who is losing their mind is never a good thing if you need to make a quick exit, so I was so happy to come across this 4th of July Cheat Sheet posted on GoRockford.com.

Some less congested places they suggest going to for a great view of fireworks are:

  • Shorewood Park where you can take in a special SkiBroncs show before the fireworks spectacular.
  • Top of the parking garage across from the Coronado Performing Arts Center.
  • Anywhere along the Rock River in downtown Rockford.

For more information on any of these locations or more fun things to do over the holiday weekend, check out the Go Rockford website here.
