Downtown Rockford is getting a floral face lift. Last night, the Rockford City council voted  to spend $90,000 on downtown beautification. This money will be spent by the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. It's all part of the Forest City Beautiful project. Money will go toward painting, landscaping, and floral services downtown.

The Rock River Times reports that the city also agreed to pay an additional $20,000 for the next two years if the bureau can raise enough funding to maintain the program.
