President of Rockford University, Robert L. Head, Ph.D., has announced he will retire June 30, 2016, when his current contract ends. Here are the details.

According to WIFR TV23, Dr. Head joined Rockford University in June 2008 and serves as the institution’s 17th president. The announcement comes so early in the year to provide ample notice to the Board of Trustees, and to allow for a well-planned succession process to begin.

Under Dr. Head’s leadership, the transition from Rockford College to Rockford University finally happened in 2013. Rockford University has been able to operate eight consecutive years with positive operating income, and enrollments are at 20-year highs according to Rockford University.

Dr. Head is on the boards of Swedish American Health System, Keith Country Day School, the Golden Apple Foundation, the Rockford Rotary Club, Alignment Rockford, Blackhawk Area Council Boy Scouts of America, and The Rockford Chamber of Commerce. He also serves as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 9 and is a member of the Steering Committee for Transform Rockford.

Rockford University has already started to put a plan of action to find their next President.
