Officials from the City of Rockford and the International Women's Baseball Center announced this week that a big celebration of the Rockford Peaches' 75th Anniversary will be taking place in our city this summer. The announcement also kicked off a major fundraising campaign to build the International Women's Baseball Center across from Beyer Stadium in Rockford.

The Rockford Register Star says $7 million dollars is needed to establish this new museum and training facility dedicated to women's baseball, and organizers are hoping this summer's events will raise all of the funds needed.

The 75th Anniversary of the Rockford Peaches celebration technically kicks off tonight with the Rockford IceHogs' "Pink in the Rink Night", but the "official" beginning of the party will be on May 30, 2018, which is the day the first All-American Girls Professional Baseball League games took place in Rockford and Racine 75 years ago.

According to the International Women's Baseball Center's website, the Rockford Peaches 75th Anniversary celebration will include:

  • "Diamonds, Denim and Stars" show at the Coronado Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.
  • Rockford Peaches Day on State and City Market on Friday, June 1, 2018 followed by a viewing of "League Of Our Own" at Friday Night Flix.
  • "Baseball in the STEAM Zone" Family Day at Beyer Stadium followed by an opening ceremony and exhibition game on Saturday, June 2, 2018.
  • Home Run Derby and closing ceremony at Beyer Stadium on Sunday, June 3, 2018.
