It could be game over for a gamer's paradise in Rockford and a 1-up for a store we thought we were losing.

News broke this weekend about possibility of my go-to place for games in Rockford closing because of poor sales. CNN said almost 200 stores could be deleted.

The company announced earlier this week that it's shutting down 2% to 3% of its stores. That means as many as 190 stores could be on the chopping block.

There's no word if Rockford-area Gamestops are headed towards the circle of death just yet. For now us gamers just have to hope for a continue.

Speaking of stores closing, we thought a popular Rockford bookstore was closing, but we may have lucked out. According to WIFRHalf Price Books Outlet will indeed close because of the cost of their lease but it sounds like the Dallas-based discount book store is looking for a new location in Rockford.

Half Price Books’ headquarters in Dallas is looking for a new building in Rockford but it hasn’t found one yet.

Here's a little more good news, kind of.

Everything is currently one dollar, we're going to be here through the 26th, so a little more time to try and get rid of the rest of the remaining stock we have left,” says manager Steven Locke.

Is there a Rockford-area store or business that is closing? Let me know in a comment.
