In an announcement on Facebook, Whitney shared the news almost ten years to the exact day she began at WIFR.

In a blog on WIFR.com she writes about her new day job.

Now, about ten years to the day I sat in my first WIFR edit bay, there are bittersweet tears as I announce I am leaving WIFR for a Morning Anchor job in Milwaukee at our CBS affiliate, WDJT. I will be working side by side with Mike Curkov, a former 23 news sports anchor. The two of us started our careers around the same time and are so excited to reunite.

There's still time to get your nightly dose of Whitney because she'll be around for a few more weeks.

My last newscast will on March 22. Please join me one last time. Thank you for trusting me tell so many of your stories, it's now time to start writing another chapter of my own.

Whitney has brought both integrity and humor to WIFR over the past decade, including my favorite moment.

The best part was when she full in the news room while wearing that big bulky mascot costume.

I've known Whitney Martin for a long time. And, as someone who also begged their way into broadcasting i their hometown, it's really cool to have watched her grow as a journalist and become a leader in the Rockford community.

Kudos, Whitney. You're going to do even bigger things and Milwaukee will be an even bigger stepping stone. I hope to be like you someday when I grow up.
