All four Rockford public high schools will be a part of a pilot program this year aimed at keeping kids playing football safer from head injuries.

Each of the school's football helmets will be outfitted with an impact response sensor that will alert coaching staff and trainers immediately if a preset impact limit has been exceeded. The hope is that this new technology from Riddell will not only lower the instances of player head injuries, but also provide information on how to make the safest helmets possible for future players.

Bravo, District 205 for doing everything you can to keep our students safe!
