For those traveling back to Rockford to visit with family and friends over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays, one Rockford hotel is offering up free rooms.

WTVO reports that the Residence Inn on Colosseum Drive in Rockford is opening up their hotel rooms for families traveling into Rockford to stay for free. "It's part of the TMI Hospitality program."

However the offering of these free rooms are for those that are visiting friends or family who are in hospitals, nursing homes or treatment centers over Thanksgiving and Christmas" and obviously the visiting guests cannot stay at those places.

To receive a free room travelers "must contact the hotel directly to make a reservation, as rooms are subject to availability."  Call 815-227-0013 or visit Marriott.com.

I think that is a really neat. I had no idea this program has been in effect since 1989. Did you?

Talk about doing a good deed for weary travelers.
