On Tuesday night the home of Rockford Firemen Garren Rainer and his family caught fire and resulted in thousands of dollars in damage.

Thankfully, Firemen Rainer, his wife, and their two young children were not home at the time the fire started in their laundry room, but the damage to their home, and their lives, is devastating.

According to the GoFundMe page that was started to help the family, the water and fire damage extended through the family's main living area and destroyed most of their clothing as well.

City of Rockford Firefighters Union 413 is asking for the community's help in supporting Firemen Rainer and his family, and shared this statement from the family on Facebook;

We would like to thank everyone for their generosity and acts of kindness. The warm love and support has been refreshing in this hard time. We may not be able to say thank you to everyone individually, but please know that you are appreciated. Right now we are gathering our thoughts and prioritizing where to begin in accumulating our necessities. It will be a long process but with everyone’s support we are confident it will be easier.
Sincerely,
The Rainer Family
