Many on the west side of Rockford didn't know what to do when the Circles of Learning Daycare center closed in June.

It took the heart and vision of a Rockford firefighter to reopen it.

WREX news reports that veteran firefighter,  Rod George, stepped in to help families that we in need of daycare services on the west side of Rockford.

"Rod now rents the former Circles of Learning building and gave it a much needed face-lift, with new kitchen appliances and emergency lighting. He said it cost him $40,000 to do all this, now "Kidz Will B Kids" is finally open."

He has said that "he's ready to help, whether that's as a firefighter or as a daycare owner. 'It's kind of my own nature. That's what we do for a living. We help the public and so this just a transition of helping the public.'"

If you're interested in helping "Kidz Will B Kid" they are currently "accepting monetary donations as well as new or gently used toys to help fill his classroom. You can take the donations to 2907 N. Main Street or contact Rod directly at (815)-713-6900."

Wow! I love reading stories about this. It makes me smile knowing that there are still good people out there wanting to help others and bridge the needs of the community.

I say that Rod George is indeed a Good Deed Doer for the people of Rockford.

Speaking of Good Deeds. The Wake Up Crew is on the look out to award doers of good deeds here in the stateline area. If you know someone who has done an act of kindness, please let Steve and Little Zim know. Click the button below for all the details.
