Rockford sure likes it's veggies! This past Summer and Fall was an incredible time for the Rockford City Market. The market set an all time attendance record of 75,510 visitors. All this despite the fact that it had to endure poor weather and a collapsing parking deck.

The Rockford Register Star reports that the demolition of the parking deck, that was home to the Rockford City market for the last five years, began this past Tuesday.
In 2014, The market operated from May 30 - Oct 17 in Downtown Rockford (Near the intersection of Market and Water Streets)

The market averaged 4,195 guests per week this year compared to 3,773 per week in 2013. When it first debuted in 2010, the Rockford City Market had 20,000 visitors.

Currently, 60 vendors take part in the Rockford City Market. Check out the list HERE.

Among the goodies you will find are meats, wine, vegetables, fruits, eggs, cheeses, flowers, herbs, baked goods and healthy snacks. You'll also find a beer garden with live music.

Due to the market's popularity, organizers hope, in the future, to turn it into a year-round event with an indoor facility.
