With Beloit getting a casino Rockfordians wonder why we can't have nice things too. That could be changing in the future as the Winnebago County commission showed its support of the idea.

According to WIFR, "Although no plans are in place right now, the committee wants to call on Springfield to restart the discussion on putting a casino in town that could bring in money for the county."

I wonder what games this would include. Gambling laws are weird state to state, county to county, and city to city. Slot machines are obvious but what about the good stuff. Craps, blackjack, roulette, and of course poker. If poker isn't included I'm not interested.

This could be huge for the area. Locals will pour in, but they will also pour in from all the surrounding areas.

Now the only question left is when they'll actually have a legitimate conversation about it. The wheels move slowly in Washington. They move even slower here with all these damn potholes.

Fingers crossed they get their act together and get this done, but I won't be holding my breath.
