It is time to do a happy dance. Gas prices are dropping once again.

According to our news partner WTVO, we could be seeing gas prices below $2 a gallon in the next three months.

Illinois Gas Buddy.com is reporting that the price of a gallon of gas is averaging $2.12. That is five cents below the state average. Knock on wood, because if there are no Mother Nature events, we could all see gas prices below the bill that features Thomas Jefferson.

Right now, there are a few places where you can get gas for less than two bucks. Here is the current list of prices in the Rockford area:

  • $1.99 Woodman’s 3155 McFarland & Springbrook (This is a cash/debit card price)
  • $1.99 Sams Club 7241 Walton St near Buckley Dr (It is five cents more if you are not a member)
  • $1.99 Meijer 2011 Perryville Rd
  • $2.00 Road Ranger 4980 S. Main St.

It is cheaper in some of the surrounding areas:

  • $1.91 Freeport Shell 2065 W. Galena Ave.
  • $1.93 Dixon: Road Ranger 1801 S. Galena
  • $1.95 Dixon  Kelly's Market 1300 N. Galena Ave

The lowest price of gas in the state is $1.65 in Villa Grove. The highest price for gas is $3.69 in Chicago.

Enjoy the heavier wallet!
