Fishing for St Jude Kids, Rock River Open Catfish Tournament Announced

Anglers, get ready to go fishing for St Jude Kids! The 2015 Rock River Open Catfish Tournament has been announced.

This year's tournament takes place on Saturday August 1st and will once again benefit St Jude Children's Research Hospital. This year's theme is "Casting for a Cure.

100% of registration fee goes to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

TIMES: Fishing will start at midnight, scales open at about 9:00 am and will close at 1:00 pm

LOCATION: Coon & Fox Hunters Club at 12314 Harrison Road, Shirland, IL (just south of Shirland, IL and just north of Harrison, Il, (right across from the boat launch at Two Rivers Forest Preserve)

DEADLINE: Registration forms must be turned in no later than 6pm on July 30th.
Each participant will be registered for various give-away prizes that have been generously donated by area businesses.

Participants under the age of 16 years of age must be registered by an adult and have an adult present at the weigh-in.  Weigh Ins will be from 9am-1pm Saturday, August 1st
at “Coon & Fox Hunters Club” at 12314 Harrison Road, Shirland, IL

RULES:

• All catfish must be caught by hook and line. No “netting” allowed. Catfish must be brought to weigh-in alive.
• All state of Illinois and cat fishing regulations apply. Absolutely no exceptions. All participants are required to obey all “NO TRESPASSING” signs and personal properties of others in the fishing area.
• The fishing area is the Rock River, the Pecatonica River & the Sugar River (all of which are in Illinois).

PRIZES:

• Biggest fish - $500.00 donated by Buffalo Contracting
• Heaviest three fish stringer - $500.00 (this used to be $250 in previous years) donated by Campbell Industries
• Cash prizes randomly drawn from entrants registration forms
• As always, great give-away items from Bass Pro Shops.

Please remember, you don't need to bring in a fish or even fish for that matter to be eligible to win a prize. All you need to do is fill out a registration form and donate $5.00

ALL of the proceeds go directly to St. Jude's.

• Even Keel Marine on West State (just east of Meridian Road)
• Rowe's A Frame Restaurant in Durand, IL (across from the high school)
• Blackhawk Barber Shop in Rockton, IL (next to Phillips 66 Gas Station)

This year the tournament will also feature the Universal Hovercraft out of Rockford, IL. On hand will be two Renegade Hovercraft. Rides will be available for a $5 donation to St. Jude's Kids.
