The word is out.

The restoration project to Black Hawk Statue in Oregon will FINALLY be finished!

That is good news.

The Rochelle New-Leader shares that the funding to complete the process to restore the over 100-year-old statue was met.

All $350,000 has come in to match the $350,000 "grant the state Legislature made to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The goal was reached through donations from the Etnyre Foundation, private foundations, local banks and Oregon Together."

Now that the funds have been met the restoration process can begin again to bring this statue back to its original state. This spring is when they will restart the repairs and refinishing to the "Eternal Indian". In the meantime, the statue will be covered in a protective wrap for the winter.

The targeted date of when it will be finished is this summer of 2019.

this is great news to read.

I was there in May in it was sad to see this stately sculpture just sitting there half restored with orange fencing around it. It will be so nice to see it finally finished and standing proudly overlooking the Rock River.
