If you love the Wizard of Oz then this is something you might want to consider.

You can rent Dorothy's House.

I'm serious.

I read in Road Trippers, that back in the early 70's an amusement park based on the Wizard of Oz was created on top of Beech Mountain in North Carolina. The park was enjoyed until it's abrupt closure in 1980.

However, once a year former park workers and performer's along with the public can attend "Autumn in OZ" and tour the amusement park.

Not only can you visit the former theme park during that fall weekend, but now they've opened it to actually staying in Dorothy's house that is on the property.

Check this out.  According to EmeraldMnt.co, the house is available to be rented between March 1st and December 31st for the costs of:
$400/2 night weekend
$165/weeknight
$1000/week

Would you do it?

I might be tempted. However, visiting this once thriving amusement park might be more interesting on that fall weekend than just staying in the house.
