If you are a resident of Winnebago County, and your family will need Christmas assistance this year from the Salvation Army, registration is going on now through Friday, November 18, 2016.

The Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign kicked off last week, and the monies raised from it help fund their Christmas Assistance program.  If your family has a hard time making ends meets during the holiday season, the Salvation Army is here to help with not only food, but toys for your children as well.

Registration for families needing Christmas help is taking place at the Salvation Army Tabernacle located at 210 N Kilburn Avenue in Rockford from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through this Friday, November 18. Extended evening hours will be available on Wednesday, November 16 from 3 to 6 p.m.

To register your family, you will need to bring the following:

  • A photo ID for the head of household
  • Recent proof of address for every member of household including children
  • Proof of birthday for every child in household 15 and under

If you do not need Christmas assistance, but would like to help so many people in our community who do need help, mark December 2, 2016 on your calendar. That's the day for our annual 12 Hours of Salvation Army Toy Drive at the Lou Bachrodt Automall. We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for ages birth to 15 years all day long, and would love for you to be a part of this amazing day packed full with Christmas cheer!

Get your shop on now, and we'll see you soon!
