Country music stars are down to earth, personable, and always remember it's the fans that make or break a career. Billy Currington "gets it" and invited Q98.5 listeners to go to his sound check recently at the N.I.U. Convocation Center. The experience is almost "surreal" as you walk into the empty N.I.U. Convocation Center at 3 in the afternoon and there's Billy and his band jammin' on stage with lights glowing....He looks from the stage, notices Q98.5 and our group of listeners dancing in, and says "Welcome to the party..Come on down" without stopping the music and hitting the next bridge.

I've been in the business a long time, and I even got the feeling "this was something special"...Billy played a couple songs, including new material, worked on a musical bridge and arrangement with the band and more.

Then, Billy walked

to the edge of the stage, grabbed cell phones, and took "selfies" for our Q98.5 listeners. Afterwards, he jumps off the stage and just hangs out with us for awhile..

Flashing his smile, he tells our Q98.5 listeners to party it up tonight, and heads to his bus to "check out his NCAA Bracket"... That's the way you do it.....

Thanks Billy Currington and Mercury Records for the once in a lifetime experience for our Q98.5 listeners.
