Portillo’s Announces Tampa Bay Location Following Chicago Blackhawks Win

I don't know if you will think this is as awesome as I do, but Portillo's released a full page ad in the Tampa Bay Times today with a headline reading; "Cheer Up Tampa, There's Good News from Chicago Today." LOL!

It's too bad that Tampa may be unable to fully feel the joy that should come from this announcement, but to Portillo's I say, nicely done! I now love your restaurant even more, because not only are you delicious, but you are extremely clever as well.

Here is Portillo's love letter to Tampa today:

It’s official. Portillo’s is coming to Tampa in 2016.

If you haven’t heard of us, we’d relish the opportunity to introduce ourselves. We started as a small hot dog stand outside Chicago in 1963 and we’ve grown to serve the most delicious beef, burgers, salads, and chocolate cake. Tampa residents spent years peppering us with requests to build a restaurant — you really put us in a pickle. So we’re thrilled we’re finally making our way to Florida.

Let’s be frank: No matter whose jersey you’re wearing, everyone will be welcome. We hope you don’t have a beef against us or our hometown team. Perhaps this will land us in hot water, but we think you’ll agree that our food truly cuts the mustard.

We look forward to seeing you next year. Until then, leave the ketchup at home and keep your buns out of trouble.
