A body pulled from the Kishwaukee River near Cherry Valley on Sunday has been identified.

According to WTVO, the Winnebago County Coroner's Office has identified the body as being 46-year-old Janet Gitzmaker.

Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputies and other water rescue units responded to Kishwaukee Gorge Forest Preserve just after 3:45 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a body in the Kishwaukee River.

Fire department personnel found and recovered the body from the river. According to the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office, the body was taken to Atwood Park and turned over to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.

An autopsy has been scheduled.
