ATV's are fun. Side by side off-road ATV's are more expensive and even more fun. However, if you own a Polaris RZR model, be advised there has been a large recall due to potential fire hazards.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) says that Polaris has received more than 160 reports of fires with the recalled RZR recreational off-road vehicles (ROV), resulting in one death of a 15 year old passenger from a rollover that resulted in a fire and 19 reports of injuries, including first, second and third degree burns.

Models affected by the recall are:

  • 2013-2016 RZR 900
  • 2013-2016 RZR 1000

Polaris is recalling approximately 133,000 of the vehicles.

The CPSC and Polaris are warning consumers to stop using these recreational vehicles immediately and contact their Polaris dealer for a free repair. Polaris has agreed to voluntarily suspend sale of all recalled vehicles until they are repaired.

Vehicle owners can log onto the polaris website to find out if their vehicles are affected by the recall. You will need to know your VIN number. You can also contact your local Polaris dealer.
