The City Market is the highlight of summer in downtown Rockford, and with record amounts of people attending the market each week local leaders have decided it's time to keep the fun going year round.

The plan is to renovate and set up shop in buildings on Madison Street, just east of the current location across the train tracks. Expected costs for the project are more than $8,000,000, and the Rockford City Council recently approved to give market organizers more than $1,000,000 in grant money to use towards finding investors for the project.

I love how the market gives us the chance to experience all kinds of local vendors and goods, plus this year-round market would take some of the boredom out of those winter Friday nights. I'm actually looking forward to the winter of 2016 now!
