Let me put me "old man" hat on for a moment....Why is it that when parents call their kids and leave a message, they never listen to it, or worst yet, they don't return your call. Parents, don't you just hate that?

The good news, is that this may soon become a thing of the past, and you can thank a mom by the name of Sharon Standifird for this ingenious idea.

A mom has invented a phone app (Android only) gives parents a very modern solution to an old problem: What to do when your child won't return your phone calls?

It's called "Ignore No More". It allows parents to remotely lock their child's smartphone, in the event their child is ignoring their phone calls and text messages. The only way the child's phone can be be re-activated is if the child calls their parents back.

The phone app has to be be installed on both the parents' and the child's cellphones.

After it is installed, parents can lock their child's phone by simply tapping their name and entering a code. The phone can only be unlocked with a code the child has to call their parents and ask for.

There is a safety mechanism built into the app, so that the child can still call first responders in case of an emergency.

According to the Cambridge Times in an E-mail interview

She said the idea for the "Ignore No More" app was born when she was out running errands with her husband, William, and realized the family dog, Blackjack, a Jack Russell terrier, should be let outside.

"It was middle of the afternoon and both my teenage kids were home, most likely 'busy' playing video games and watching TV," she recalls. "I texted, then I called each of their phones, then the house phone . . . I was mad, then anger turned into worry; was something wrong, like a fire or a burglar."

Finally, her 17-year-old son, Bradley, texted her back.

"As expected, they were home and just too 'busy' to answer their cellphones, so I said, 'We need an app to make them answer their cellphones,' " Standifird says.

The app’s website describes the immediate effect of locking a child’s smartphone.

"When you lock your child's phone with "Ignore No More," your child has only two options – he or she can call you back, or call for an emergency responder," the website says. "No calls to friends, no text, no games, notta' until they call you back. When they do you can unlock their phone if you choose to do so. How's that for parental control?"

Parents, if you are interested, you can get the in the Google Play store. So far, 10,000 people have downloaded the app as of Sunday afternoon.

So, do you think this is a great idea?
