Only Rockfordians Would Understand This
Even before smartphones, you could get the current temperature with a phone but it wasn't on the screen. Rockfordians actually made a phone call to get it. And, if you're like me, you probably had this number memorized. It was Weather Phone, a.k.a. "time and temp."
For Millennials, it went like this, "Amcore Bank time.... ____. Current temperature: __ degrees." I feel like it was Amcore Bank so we'll go with that, but do you remember the number? Here's a hint.
I can't remember my first home phone number but I can remember (815) 968-2311. By the early 2000's it became a sponsored deal if my memory serves me correctly. Either way, I bet I dialed that number thousands of times. And, if you're wondering, it still exists. Go ahead, grab your iPhone (with the weather being a click or swipe away) and call time and temp.
Call (815) 968-2311 and you will get a quick ad (go figure, right?), the time and temp, a different bank name, and some other bonus audio that I didn't listen to. Go ahead, grab your iPhone (with the weather being a click or swipe away) and call time and temp.
