Last month the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) announced that Olson Beach at Rock Cut State Park in Loves Park would be closed for swimming, and many Stateline residents feared the closure would be permanent. Turns out, it may not be.

Here's the good news; the IDNR wants to dredge Olson Lake to repair the water conditions that have closed it , but it won't be done in time for the beach to be open this summer. That's the bad news.

According to WREX a press release from the IDNR said;

IDNR Director Wayne Rosenthal will be meeting with state representative John Cabello (R-Rockford) at the Olson Lake site soon to discuss what is needed to once again open the lake for the public"

I guess this summer we'll just have to hang poolside and be patient until we can hang lakeside again.
