If you love shopping at Gordmans in Rockford and Machesney Park, there is new hope that the stores might remain open.

It's a small chance, but a definite possibility one or both Stateline area Gordmans location could remain open, after all. . As first reported HERE, Gordmans was expected to file for bankruptcy, and sure enough they did. As a result of the bankruptcy filing, Gordmans was expected to liquidate its inventory and assets of its retail stores and distribution centers. However, no exact time frame was specified and no closing dates were ever announced.

According a report in the New York Times on Tuesday, closing all of the Gordmans stores is not a done deal because the bankruptcy proceedings have attracted two bidders who are interested in  keeping at least some of the company's stores operating. It is unclear as to which stores would remain open.

Any sale of Gordmans' assets will have to be approved by the bankruptcy court, so it's not clear if the bidders will prevail.

After reports of the bankruptcy filing was made public, concerned Stateline residents were thrilled to learn that the Loves park and Rockford Gordmans stores were operating "business as usual," in fact, the Gordmans website, tells the same story.

For the benefit of it's employees, and to give Stateline shoppers more choices, we hope Gordman's can pull through this and remain open and a member of our community.
