Things sure are nasty in Springfield. Democratic State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit made what has to be one of the nastiest speeches ever giving on the house floor.

Ms Kifowit represents nearby Oswego, IL in the Illinois House of Representatives. On Monday, Kifowit made the statement while discussing a bill regarding a discussion on civil litigation cases and lawsuit payouts involving the State of Illinois.

The Sun-Times reported that

The remark came just before the Illinois House voted 71-36 to override Gov. Bruce Rauner’s amendatory veto of a bill to increase the cap the state pays in civil litigation cases from $100,000 to $2 million. The legislation passed in May and was meant to help the families of those affected by a deadly Legionnaires’ disease outbreak at the Illinois Veterans Home in Downstate Quincy. Thirteen residents have died and dozens others were sickened from the outbreak. Twelve families have filed suit.

Her comments were directed at Republican state Rep. Peter Breen of Lombard.

Republican State Rep Jeannie Ives said the speech by Kifowit, essentially "wished a death on a Republican floor speaker."

The Sun-Times also reports that Governor-elect J.B. Pritzker has named Kifowit to a veterans panel "Serving Illinois’ Heroes Committee."

Thinks are getting interesting in Springfield.
