When losing weight, one of the things we need to look at are our portion sizes.

There are nine mistakes we all make that are actually sabotaging our efforts.

For instance, when you pour a bowl of cereal do you measure how much cereal and milk your putting together? Or do you eyeball it? If you eyeball it, you're most likely giving yourself 2 to 3 servings instead of the recommended serving on the side of the box. Ooops! I know I've been guilty of that.

How about your coffee creamer? Regardless if it's fat free you may be pouring in too much. Typical serving sizes are about a tablespoon. Most times we are flavoring our drink with 2 to 3 tablespoons. Yikes. I've done it again, and I'm adding more calories.

Here's one I never thought about. Cooking Spray. Do you spray the recommended amount or just spray away until the pan or dish is coated? I know with the cooking I do, I spray away until I see everything is covered. Well, if you're like me, we're doing it wrong. We're adding more calories to the pan. A serving size is 1/3 spray. Whoops.

Wow! I'm going to have to start paying closer attention to what I'm doing. I've been doing it wrong for a very long time.
