Get ready to see crews installing five new sculptures, part of the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau’s recently announced public art initiative, this week in downtown Rockford. Here's what you'll soon see.

New five sculptures, created by artists Hans Van De Bovenkamp and Boaz Vaadia, will be on loan to the community for one year and installed throughout downtown Rockford starting Wednesday, May 20 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. before Memorial Day Weekend.

Look for the new sculptures at the following locations.

1) East State and 3rd Streets (both sides of the street)

2) East State and North 2nd Streets

3) South Main and Elm Streets

4) Esplanade along the west bank of the Rock River between Jefferson and State Streets.

The sculptures are a Red Trunk, an Elephant Heart, an Oracle, a Sagg Portal #6 and an Ah Av.

They are patterned after the successful Seasons of Sculptures in Sarasota, Florida. The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau will bring world-class sculpture to downtown Rockford in 2015, with the goal of creating long term programs of art in the area.

Be on the look out for crews and the finished products this weekend.
