A new restaurant is moving into the old Taco Bell building in Machesney Park.

The new establishment, called Pita Pit, will hire 15 new employees and along with Eggspress hopefully revitalize what used to be a bustling area when Machesney Park Mall was in it's heyday.

According to the press release from Community Development Director James Richter;

Over $140,000 will be invested in the building.. The investments are made possible through collaboration between the Pita Pit franchisee, the property owner, and the Village

The aforementioned franchisee already has one Pita Pit in the area. It's located between Best Buy and hhgregg on Perryville and has been quite successful.

If you haven't been to one it's a fast casual restaurant that can be described as a cross between Chipotle and Subway. I've gone to their other store many times and have always been happy with their food.

As someone who lives in the Loves Park/Machesney Park area it'll be nice to see another option in the area. Keep your eyes peeled, Pita Pit is scheduled to open in mid to late summer.
