New Illinois Law for High School Sports
Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has just signed a new law requiring high school coaches and athletic directors to take concussion training courses. IHSA to develop a new concussion program beginning immediately. Here are more details for athletes and coaches in Illinois.The legislation signed by Governor pat Quinn at a school in Chicago, requires the Illinois High School Association to develop an online concussion certification program.
The training will center on the recognition and prevention of concussions, as well as education of the long-term effects of repetitive head trauma. Student athletes will also receive awareness training.
The new law takes effect immediately.
Just in time for the upcoming high school football season which begins next week in the Stateline.
