The Forest City Queen is halfway to its fundraising goal. It is currently being fixed but needs more help to operate this summer.

Unfortunately, The Rockford Park District's Rock River boat ride, the Forest City Queen, did not survive the 2018 budget cuts.

With the repairs needed and operating expenses for the summer, $22,000 would be needed to keep it going.

A group of citizens has started a gofundme page in an effort to keep the ship afloat this year.

Currently, the fundraising is about halfway to the goal. Getting to this point has allowed them to get "The Queen" repaired.

Now, money is needed to keep its summer schedule.

The deadline is June 1st.

For many people in Rockford, this is their own chance to get a boat ride on "The Rock."

It would be very sad for it to just go away.
