Good news, the ice rink at Millennium Park is open.

DNAInfo reports that"t he ice rink, which draws more than 100,000 people every year, will offer free ice skating lessons an hour before the rink opens on Fridays and Saturdays. There will also be lessons and special events over the Winter Break for Chicago Public Schools, Dec. 21-31."

The rink will remain open now through March 6th.

"Skating is free, but skate rentals are $12. Skates are available in sizes Toddler 8 to Adult 13 on a first-come, first-served basis. Skate sharpening will cost $9. You can also rent a locker for $1."

Noon-8 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays

Noon-10 p.m. Fridays (free lessons at 11 a.m.)

10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturdays Nov. 14-Jan. 2 (free lessons at 9 a.m.)

10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturdays Jan. 9-March 5 (free lessons at 9 a.m.)

10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sundays (free lessons at 9 a.m.)

Holiday hours:

Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving): 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Nov. 27 (Black Friday): 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve): 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (free lessons at 9 a.m.)

Dec. 25 (Christmas): 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (no lessons)

Dec. 26-30: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. (free lessons at 9 a.m.)

Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve): 10 a.m.-8 p.m. (free lessons at 9 a.m.)

Jan. 1 (New Year's Day): 10 a.m.-10 p.m. (no lessons)

Jan. 18 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day): 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Feb. 5 (School Improvement Day): 10 a.m.-10 p.m. (free lessons at 9 a.m.)

I don't know about you but I've always wanted to go skating there. Seeing that this winter is supposed to be a mild one, not bitter cold as last years, this will be perfect for a weekend day trip into the city.
