Working for the government has its perks, and 114 Rockford city and school employees know it. They are making over $100,000 a year, and you get to pay their salaries.

In a shocking report issued last week, it was reported that Illinois has over 63,000 government employees that make over $100K a year. It is estimated that Illinois taxpayers collectively pay over $10 billion dollars a year to fund their salaries. Yes, your high property taxes pay their salaries and pensions

As is required by law, salary information of teachers, administrators, city employees, state employees, must be made public since public funds are used to pay their salaries. All the information is available on line and through a cool website called openthebooks.org.

While Rockford does not have the highest paid government workers in the state, taxpayers are responsible to pay the salaries of 114 workers that make over $100,000 a year.

Rockford highest paid government worker works for the Rockford School district and makes $235,265.
