In below zero temps such as this, frostbite and hypothermia happens quick, and often it happens simultaneously.

The US National Weather Service Chicago posted some easy ways to spot if someone you love is suffering from frostbite or hypothermia after being exposed to extremely cold temperatures. Read them, know them, and make sure you share them with everyone you love so they know them too.

 

 

If you're going to be outdoors over the next week, even if it's for a short bit of time, dressing in multiple layers is key. You should also put extra blankets, warm clothes, water and snacks inside your car so that you are prepared if you find yourself stranded on the side of the road in weather like this.
