Thursday night the Chicago Bears selected West Virginia wide receiver Kevin White as the seventh overall pick in the NFL draft in Chicago.

The pick brought a ton of cheers from fans gathered downtown Chicago.

USA TODAY reports that new Bears GM Ryan Pace chose to go with a play-making receiver to replace the traded Brandon Marshall,  rather than address a defense that has ranked among the worst in franchise history the past two years.

Kevin White said:

I've never had anything given to me, not even at high school or junior college, I had to earn everything. Every time I get the opportunity, I made the most of it.

A little background on White:

  • He is 6' 3' tall
  • Weighs 210 pounds
  • He played two seasons at West Virginia after transferring from Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
